GRSP Conclave

Conclave is the kickoff event for GRSP and allows the international college scholarship students to interact with one another as well as Georgia Rotarians. District 69100 with the help of Athens Area Rotary Clubs hosted the event, held at the University of Georgia Center for Continuing Education and Hotel. The Rotary Club of Americus sponsored Philipp Hub from Germany who is now attending Georgia Southwestern State University in Americus for the academic year. Philipp's host family, Mark and Julie Scott, and his GRSP Trustee Angela Smith were in Athens for this year's GRSP Conclave. The Scotts are first-time hosts and attendees. The weekend was a combination of learning and fun with workshops on Rotary, the GRSP program, Georgia laws and tips for how to make the most of the year. Students were introduced individually and by district at a dinner on Friday evening and put on a show for all Rotarians and guests on Saturday evening, beginning with the emotional parade of flags. The Sunday morning highlight was a behind the scenes tour of UGA's iconic Samford Stadium in which guests were treated to a tour of the teams locker room and Dooley Field before heading home. Philipp enjoyed the weekend immensely and has fallen in love with the GRSP program. It was a wonderful weekend for the Scotts and Smith who enjoyed meeting all of the students and watching them bond for the first time.
